From Drawing to Print

Starts 25 Aug
375 British pounds
Long House Studios

What to expect

Come and enjoy 4 days of printmaking in its various guises (monoprint, drypoint, collagraph and linocut) and explore its relationship with drawing. We have recently purchased a brand new press from Ironbridge printmakers which is an excellent addition to our printmaking equipment. Each day will start with drawing - from the landscape, garden, barns, tool shed or studio - and focus on markmaking, tone, texture and composition, before considering how drawings can be translated into print. By experimenting with different printmaking techniques and methods you will be encouraged to find the technique that suits you and your imagery most effectively. By the end of the course you will have produced a small portfolio of prints (!) and have a good understanding of their different characteristics and suitability for your own artistic practice. As ever, this course will offer opportunities for discussion of each others' work and the work of great printmakers of the past and present, as well as lots of 1:1 support and tuition. Printing materials will be provided.
